How Similiar Are They?

Seth's mom made the following notes about Seth when he was 4 months old:

"At 4 months Seth can reach for a toy and grasp it on the first try. Everything goes to the mouth so he’s drooling and blowing bubbles a lot. He likes to sit (with support) so is especially happy in his swinging seat or his bouncing seat where he really gets flailing and jumping. When shopping in his new yellow backpack, he always leans to the right and likes to be taken to mirrors where he can see himself. He rolls over from back to stomach and back again. He weighs 16-10 and is 26 ½-in."

There are some similarities between Seth and Norah, but one thing's for sure - he was quite a bit bigger (Norah was only 12-6 at her 4 month appointment). It turns out daddy was a bit more advanced when it comes to rolling over - Norah doesn't seem close to doing that yet, although she has started really digging her feet in and wiggling around. She is also reaching for toys and grasping them right away. We like to lay her on her stomach propped up on the boppy with toys in front of her. We also stack colorful cloth blocks (from aunt Amy and uncle Steve), and put the one that has a mirror on top so she can see herself. She is often quite occupied in this position for a while, assuming she is not hungry or tired. Norah is also similiar to her dad in that she loves to put everything in her mouth, especially her hands if nothing else is available. She doesn't drool all that much, but she does like to stick her tongue out and spit. She also loves to stand, and has been able to put weight on her legs for quite some time. When we have her in a sitting position on our lap we often get the feeling she prefers to stand. We like to say she is working on her soccer legs.

Norah seems to be a very content baby overall, fussing a bit only when she really needs something. She smiles a lot and is giggling more and more. Assuming we are conscious of her feeding and napping needs, she seems to be quite easy to take places. This morning, for example, she was a real trooper. Seth ran the 10k rodeo run with our friend Dave, while Lisa (Dave's wife), Norah and I cheered them on. We left the house around 8, the race started at 9:40, and we left to have lunch soon after 11:00. It was a bit chilly and quite windy, but Norah was very happy in her jogger. She took a nap in her stroller during the race, and I fed her at lunch. Otherwise she was just hanging out.

Seth's mom kept notes on Seth until he was almost 3, so we'll have to see how they compare along the way.
