We had a great time last weekend at the lake with Jeff, Lisa, Sarah and Jessica, and only wished that it could have been longer (and that there would have been enough wind for Jeff to take out the sailboat he hauled up in a trailer). We pretty much spent the weekend playing, swimming, eating and sleeping.

The girls--baby girls that is--were all in bed by 6:30 Saturday evening, so the parents even managed to get in some good relaxing time together.
It was so incredibly hot during the day, such that we could really only be outside when we were at the pool. We were pleasantly surprised at how much it cooled off in the evening, though, and enjoyed several hours on the patio. We grilled chicken and veggies for dinner and we took advantage of several hours of uninterrupted conversation to catch up. I underestimated just how much I would enjoy that adult time with Jeff and Lisa. It reminded me of the many dinners out we had together pre-kids, talking about life in general. This weekend, our conversation often drifted back to kids, but it was also nice to sort of rekindle our relationship beyond the little sweethearts that now consume so much of our energy. Can you tell them apart? I got a little better at it this weekend (or perhaps just lucky), but typically I have to sheepishly ask and then memorize their outfits. And here is our little Norah:
We decided we're going to have to get another lake weekend on the calendar, and next time make it a bit longer.

What a wonderful recap and with pics! We enjoyed the adult time and it really was so nice to visit after the girls went to bed, it made me aware of how little we've been able to talk during our playdates. More trips to the lake are definitely in order! Thank you so much for including us!
