Neat and Orderly

I have mentioned before that Norah is always concerned with making sure all of the doors and drawers around the house are completely closed, but here are a few more examples of how she is neat like her dad and orderly like her mom:

Neat like her dad:
- She does not like messes. Period. When hummus is on the menu we often have to clean her hands multiple times through the meal.
- When I spilled some coffee grinds one morning she cried while repeating, "Meh, meh, meh." (Mess.)
- She frequently finds tiny little specs of "dirt" on the floor and shows them to us before promptly throwing them away.
- She points out all of the messes we make, even those as small as a few crumbs on the table.

Orderly like her mom (though perhaps to more of an extreme):
- The blocks must all be separated before being put in the bag.
- Cups are perfectly stacked before putting them back in the bath net.
- Lion (otherwise known as Roar) and Doll must be tucked in the same way every night: the pillow is first to go in the doll's cradle, then doll, then her blanket and then Roar on top. Roar is put to sleep with several pats.
- We hear "Uh oh, uh oh, uh oh," if a few of her books are laying down instead of neatly put away on her shelf.

I'm not quite sure where this one fits in, but one night when I was putting her in bed her pillow was slightly out of line with the corner of her crib (the edges weren't perfectly lined up). She noticed as she was putting her head on her pillow, stopped abruptly, and lined it up (which meant moving it less than an inch) before finally laying down.

Norah's number one object of obsession these days is her "Roar" from cousin Ally and great aunt Carol. You'll see him in some of the pictures below. He goes everywhere with us - just this weekend he has been on walks, to the grocery store, World Market, Lowes and Walgreens. He plays with blocks, colors, and sits on the table for every meal. He is the last thing to be put away before bed and the first thing she wants when we walk in her room in the morning.

Beyond Roar, Norah loves her chalkboard and doll, which is my old Cabbage Patch Kid doll from growing up. She spends a lot of time brushing doll's hair, one strand of yarn at a time.

We're having a pretty relaxing weekend and are getting some things done around the house. We had a birthday party this afternoon and tonight Seth is at a soccer game. Tomorrow some friends and their kids are coming over to hang out in the morning. I leave Monday afternoon for Calgary for work and don't get back until Thursday, so Seth will have a big few days as a single dad.
