Transitions Continue

Bed
Norah slept in her big girl bed pretty well for several nights after we first set it up a few weeks ago, but suddenly decided she wanted her crib one night. We left her crib in her room in case that happened, though in hindsight maybe we shouldn't have so it wouldn't have been an option.

Last weekend while she was with Mimi and Papa we decided to just take her crib down and put it back up in the third bedroom, which will eventually be the baby's room. But that night she really wanted to sleep in her crib, so we let her. She had a restless night and we were up with her a few times trying to get her to go back to sleep. After a second night of the same Seth pointed out that since she wasn't sleeping well in her crib in that room anyway, we might as well try to make her sleep in her room with the option of either her big girl bed or her pack 'n play.

So since Tuesday she has been sleeping in her big girl bed. The first two nights it was difficult to get her down, she woke up at least once in the middle of the night, and very early in the morning (between 5:15 and 5:45). Last night she went down much better, woke once but went back to bed easily, and slept until sometime after 6:30.

We're not expecting things to be entirely smooth from here on out by any means, but are hoping this is at least a turn in the right direction. Earlier in the week we decided we just needed to be prepared for a bit of a transition period, which for us means going to bed early and mental preparation.

Potty
I am happy to say that much progress has been made in this area. I finally decided one day to have Norah help pick out a small potty since that is what they use at school. All we had before that was a small seat that sits on top of the toilet.

The little potty was a hit! As soon as we brought it home she went four times in an hour and was super excited to wear her "underwears." She didn't do as well when we took it to the lake over the weekend, and had no interest in wearing underwear at school. But during this past week every morning and evening she couldn't wait to sit on the potty and put her underwear on.

M&Ms seems to be pretty significant motivation. They didn't work at first, but then I realized she probably didn't even know what they were. Once she tried one there was no turning back. She calls them something like, "Mnnmmm...aynd...M!"

We head to the lake again this weekend, so we'll see how she does there. At this point I'm happy with the progress we have made so far.
